Preaching Minister

Troy Singleton

Troy is a Texas Hill Country native who hails from the ruggedly beautiful lands around the Highland Lakes. He grew up along the north bank of the Colorado River on Lake Travis just west of the Jonestown-Lago Vista area. He graduated from Marble Falls High School in the Class of 1970. After spending several years of his young adult life working in the civil service at Austin, Troy believed he should follow God’s calling into the ministry and decided to move to West Texas where he was educated at the Sunset School of Preaching in Lubbock. This experience proved to be a spiritual watershed event which led to the next five decades of ministry as he and his wife, Kathy, worked with churches in many places including Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Michigan. He has also traveled to Central and South America in furtherance of mission works in Belize and Brazil. Troy’s greatest interest is an ever deepening Spirit-led study of the Scriptures and his passion is preaching the gospel and teaching the Word of God. One of the most noticeable strengths that the Singletons bring to this church family is their pastoral skill set in seeking out, knowing, and loving everyone. Speaking of family, he and Kathy cherish their son and daughter who grew up to become graduates of Abilene Christian University. Best of all they relish being Papa and Mema to a granddaughter and four grandsons whom they absolutely adore. The grandparent mantra is: “Our grandkids are the family treasure. They are pure joy!”

His work with students also involves a two week commitment every summer where he serves on staff at the Heart of Texas Bible Camp located in Brady. In both settings he serves teenagers from every walk of life including a number of residents from the local Cherokee Home for Children which is a community of Christians dedicated to providing a true family environment for kids in foster care. In relating to the needs of teens he believes that the answers to their life questions are to be found first in the Word of God and then through God’s love as well. He lives on church property in the parsonage where he also provides regular facilities prep every Sunday morning and lawn care for the church grounds. Minister and mentor, mechanic and adoptive father, Damian does it all!
